Glint Jewels Commerce & Operations Platform

Built Glint Jewels’ self-hosted commerce platform on AWS EC2, with multi-courier shipping and custom merchant operations.

A production commerce platform for Glint Jewels, built as a Yarn and Turborepo monorepo. It combines a Next.js storefront and merchant dashboard with a NestJS API, multi-courier fulfillment for Leopards, TRAX/Sonic, and PostEx, plus finance and inventory reporting with optional private Metabase.

Case study

Constraints, implementation, and outcomes.

Role

Full-stack and platform engineering — system architecture, storefront and dashboard, commerce API, courier integrations, and AWS deployment.

Problem

Glint Jewels needed a commerce system tailored to its own product, order, and shipping workflows, with more control over storefront merchandising and operations than a generic hosted setup provided.

Constraints

Cost-conscious single-instance AWS deployment

Keep infrastructure practical for a small team to operate

Protect customer and order data across staff tools and reporting

Support COD, Pakistani delivery operations, and multiple courier APIs

Solution

Built a three-app monorepo with a Next.js storefront and merchant dashboard, a modular NestJS API, and shared Zod contracts. Added a provider-neutral shipping layer with carrier adapters, shipment tracking and status updates, plus finance and inventory reporting for costs, settlements, refunds, and margins.

Architecture

Yarn workspaces and Turborepo monorepo

Next.js storefront and merchant dashboard

NestJS modular monolith API with shared Zod contracts

PostgreSQL and Prisma with Redis

Provider-neutral courier registry and adapters for Leopards, TRAX/Sonic, and PostEx

Docker Compose deployment on AWS EC2 behind Nginx and Cloudflare

Protected finance APIs, curated reporting views, and optional private Metabase

Outcomes

Integrated Leopards, TRAX/Sonic, and PostEx behind a shared courier interface

Created a shipping operations dashboard for courier attempts, tracking status, exceptions, and order lookup

Built finance and inventory reporting for cost snapshots, stock movements, refunds, courier settlements, reconciliation, and product margins

Added an optional private Metabase layer over curated, read-only reporting views

Delivered a brand-managed storefront with catalog, cart, COD checkout, orders, bundles, promotions, and campaign merchandising

Added an approval-based Product Copilot workflow for drafting catalog content

Next step

Continue expanding courier operations, finance reporting, and approval-based catalog automation as the business grows.
